Brooklandsplants
Encephalartos lehmannii, Photo taken at Kirstenbosch botanical garden, South Africa.
This website is dedicated to displaying images of gardens and plants from around the world. The photos are the result of many trips traveling the globe in search of wonderful gardens with great plant collections. The garden list is always being added to, not only from recent visits but also from the archive. Being based in the UK its only natural that this area will ultimately have the most featured gardens and these will be the result of perhaps several visits whilst the gardens overseas are more likely the outcome of a one off visit. The month is often included in the garden's details to illustrate seasonal highlights.
Travel
Looking for cycads in South Africa. Encephalartos middelburgensis.
Overseas travel has always been focused on botanical subjects and includes trips to Mexico to observe Dioon, Ceratozamia and Zamia in habitat. South Africa for the National Botanic gardens and to observe the cycads occurring in the Eastern Cape. The palms and gardens of southern Florida and the gardens and conifers of California were highlights of trips to the US. In the Southern Hemisphere the flora of New Zealand, Australia New Caledonia and Chile have been studied. Sponsorship from the RHS helped finance the trips to Mexico and South Africa and was greatly appreciated.
